It is an herbecaeus evergreen perennial of saxifrage family native to China, and Japan. It is a popular ornamental houseplant collected because of its scallop-edge leaves and strawberry like runners with baby plantlets drooping at the end of each stolon. 

Saxifraga stolonifera is known as creeping saxifrage, strawberry begonia, starwberry geranium, mother of thousands, and saxifrage. It can grow from 0.25 up to 0.50 foot in height and can spread from 1 to 2 feet.
